Since\nwe were founded in 1978, Tumia has strived to ensure that everyone in the\nsupply chain connected to our products is treated with dignity and\nfairly. Our relations with suppliers (many of which go back over 30\nyears) are based on transparency, honesty and mutual respect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\naim to ensure that every product we supply is produced in accordance with the\nfollowing WFTO principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1.\n We aim to creating opportunities for economically\ndisadvantaged producers<\/strong>. <\/strong>We do this\nby bringing you top quality products from producers who would not normally be\nable to access markets in economically developed countries. We also work\nwith our producers to develop and improve their products to make them more\nsuitable for these markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. \nWe aim to act with transparency and accountability<\/strong> in\nall our dealings (whilst respecting commercial confidentially where\nappropriate). <\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. \nWe follow fair trade practices <\/strong>in our\ndealings. For example, we help our suppliers to purchase raw materials\nand make payment to our suppliers in full as soon as the work is complete (if\nnot before). We build long term relations with suppliers, ensuing they\nhave a dependable source of income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. \nWe pay a fair price<\/strong> that has been agreed with\nour producers ensuring that they are adequately compensated for their work and\nskill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 5. \nWe do not tolerate child labour or forced labour<\/strong> in\nany way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 6. \nWe do not tolerate discrimination<\/strong> of\nany type and promote gender equality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 7. \nWe ensure good working conditions<\/strong>. \nThis includes Health and Safety issues, working hours and general working\nconditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 8. \nWe help our producers to build capacity<\/strong>. <\/strong>This means\nwe work with producers to develop management skill, productions capabilities\nand access to other markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 9.\u00a0 We\u00a0promote fair trade<\/strong>\u00a0generally.\u00a0 By playing an active part in BAFTS<\/a> and supporting local Fair Trade events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 10. \nWe also respect the environment<\/strong>.
